Before I introduce my next guest blogger, I want to let you all know that I’m over at My Bookish Ways for an interview with Kristin today. I discuss what I enjoy most about writing fantasy, share a new favorite author of mine, and talk about which state in the U.S. is my favorite and why. I’m also giving away a signed copy of Fiery Edge of Steel so stop by if you’re interested! Okay, on to what’s going on here: Today’s Spring Into Summer Romance guest blogger is romantic suspense author Toni Anderson. Toni is here to share a bit about her new release, The Killing Game. She’s also giving away an ebook of Edge of Survival, which also features a British SAS hero, to one lucky commenter. (If you’re wondering about her reference to writing while it was snowing outside, Toni is from Winnipeg, Manitoba and she sent me her post in early April 🙂). Finally, as with all of my Spring Into Summer Romance posts, leave a comment for a chance to win a book from my personal collection. For details on that giveaway, click here. Welcome, Toni!
British SAS Trooper Ty Dempsey and Snow Leopard Biologist Axelle Dehn
Thanks so much to Jill for hosting me on her Spring Into Summer series of guest posts. As I write, it is actually snowing, so I am praying we get a summer here in the cold white north!
My current release, THE KILLING GAME, is set in a part of the world where spring and summer also arrive late and finish early. Most of the action occurs in the western edge of the foothills of the Himalayas, in a place called the Wakhan Valley with everything coming to a head in London, England. The book centers on a Snow Leopard biologist called Axelle Dehn and her frantic efforts to save her collared cats from a ruthless poacher who she believes is taking the animals for their rare fur and to feed the Far East’s ravenous appetite for traditional medicine.
Things aren’t quite what they seem.
Our intrepid hero, British SAS trooper Ty Dempsey, is equally as tough and determined as the heroine. No stranger to conflict, he’s an Irishman from the north, the son of an IRA terrorist but he renounced his family’s values of hatred and intolerance when his sister was caught in a deadly bomb. Now Dempsey dedicates his life to saving people and serving his country. But the vows he made are tested when Axelle is abducted by the terrorist he’s hunting and she’s deemed acceptable collateral damage by his commanding officers.
There’s a tangle of betrayal and secrets that stretch back to the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan in 1979. Now the identity of the world’s most successful spy is threatened to be exposed and two of the world’s greatest nations are on the brink of war unless Axelle and Ty can figure out a way to stop it.
That’s all about my newest release. Thanks so much for having me here today—I hope wherever you are you have flowers and sunshine!! I’m still waiting for mine 🙂
More About The Killing Game
A snow leopard biologist becomes the prey when cold war secrets threaten to expose a modern-day spy ring, and an elite British soldier is forced to choose between his country and his heart.
Wildlife biologist Axelle Dehn isn’t about to let anyone harm her endangered snow leopards—not the poacher intent on killing them, nor the soldier who wants to use them as bait. But Axelle is unknowingly entangled in a conflict that stretches back three decades, a conflict that could spark a war between two of the world’s great nations.
British SAS soldier, Ty Dempsey, is on a mission to hunt down an infamous Russian terrorist in a remote region of Afghanistan. Dempsey hasn’t failed a mission yet, but when Axelle is kidnapped by the Russian, he is forced to choose between duty and his heart. He risks everything to save the determined, prickly woman he’s fallen for, but in doing so sparks a deadly series of events that threaten to expose the most successful spy in history. A spy who will destroy anyone who gets in his way.
